Hanoi: Continuing the first extraordinary session, the 16th National Assembly (NA) on August 4 looked into submissions and verification reports on the draft Law on Prevention and Control of the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) and the draft law amending and supplementing a number of articles of nine laws on military and national defence affairs.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the session aims to upgrade the existing laws to strengthen national defence capabilities and enhance international cooperation. The discussions centered around ensuring that the legal framework aligns with global standards and commitments related to arms control and military operations.

Lawmakers emphasized the importance of these legislative changes in promoting a cohesive strategy for national security and international collaboration.
