Myriad activities underway to promote Vietnamese ethnic groups’ culture

A series of activities marking Vietnamese Ethnic Groups’ Culture Day are taking place at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in Hanoi’s suburban Son Tay township from April 1 to May 3.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, a highlight will be a traditional market from the northern province of Son La, scheduled for the upcoming National Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day (May 1) holidays.

It will feature ten stalls of Son La introducing local farm produce and food and 20 others displaying specialties from other northern localities – Dien Bien, Ha Giang, Hoa Binh, and Thai Nguyen provinces, and Hanoi’s Ba Vi district, along with two tourism stalls.

Visitor will also be treated to a photo exhibition, a musical programme, folk games, and performances of the art of Khen (panpipe) of the Mong ethnic group in Son La’s Mo Chau district.

Two ethnic festivals will be re-enacted in the national village during April, which are the dance festival – the biggest traditional one of the Dao ethnic group; and a festival praying for rain of the Thai ethnic group.

Vietnam int’l aviation expo 2022 to return in September

The Vietnam International Aviation Expo 2022 (VIAE 2022) will be held on September 15-17 in Hanoi after being delayed for more than two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, heard a press conference in Ho Chi Minh City on April 2.

With the theme “A sustainable growth for a brighter future”, VIAE 2022 is expected to enhance exchange and sharing of development opportunities and new initiatives among experts and business leaders; leading domestic and foreign airlines, and manufacturers.

Topics on post-COVID-19 aviation development, stimulating flying demand, operating standards at airports, requirements for next-generation aircraft, standards of aerospace equipment suppliers, aviation ecosystem design, and aviation personnel demand in the next 20 years, will be put on the table.

The expo will showcase advanced aviation technologies and equipment, and modern airplane models used in the supply, production, operation and maintenance chain of the aviation industry.

In addition, VIAE 2022 will also serve as forum for businesses specialising in aviation from Vietnam, the US, Canada, Russia, Europe and many countries in Asia to set up partnership and expand business relationships.

Luong Thi Xuan, the founder of VIAE and head of the organising board, said the three-day event will help promote cooperation opportunities for the aviation and tourism industries in general and businesses in particular in the global market.

According to Nguyen Huu Nam, Deputy Director of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry in HCM City (VCCI – HCM, the expo will contribute to promoting information update and assessing the prospect and resilience of the aviation industry./.

COVID-19: New cases on April 2 down over 6,900

The number of new COVID-19 cases continued to drop with 65,619 cases recorded in the past 24 hours from 4pm April 1 to 4pm April 2, including 3 imported cases, down 6,939 from the previous day, according to the Ministry of Health.

Hanoi continued to report the highest number of infections on the day with 7,423 cases, followed by Dak Lak with 3,999 and Nghe An with 2,911.

The national tally reached 9,716,282.

A total 106,878 patients were given the all-clear during the day, raising the number of recoveries to 7,713,354.

There are 2,276 patients in critical conditions, while an additional 37 deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours, taking the total fatalities to 42,563, equal to 0.4 percent of the total caseload.

By April 1, the country had injected 206,460,876 doses of COVID-19 vaccines./.
