SYDNEY, April 23, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Spectacular new scenic imagery of New South Wales destinations will be shared across social platforms globally from today with the launch of a seven-part content collaboration with world renowned content creator, Eugene Tan and Destination NSW.

Produced in partnership with the NSW Government as part of the Feel New South Wales campaign, the content series takes Tan right across the state to capture the beaches of Byron Bay and Brunswick Heads on NSW’s North Coast, as well as Lord Howe Island.

In a dramatic departure from Tan’s typical coastal photo subject matter, Tan also captures the dramatic desert landscape of Outback NSW in Broken Hill.

Minister for Enterprise, Investment and Trade, Minister for Tourism and Sport and Minister for Western Sydney Stuart Ayres said the collaboration speaks to the state’s fresh new approach to marketing NSW.

“The ‘Feel New’ campaign is a key pillar of the NSW Government’s Visitor Economy Strategy 2030, which aims to make NSW the premier visitor economy of the Asia Pacific,” Mr Ayres said.

“Content and social media has never played a more important role in helping us discover our next holiday destination. Through Aquabumps, Eugene has ensured his work is eagerly anticipated and shared on social media by millions of people each week.

“His shots are powerful, emotive and distinctive. Who better to capture some of NSW’s most stunning locations and introduce prospective visitors from around the world to the incredible products and experiences our state has to offer?”

Ten destinations feature in the Feel NSW Aquabumps series, with the shoot style of the visual imagery supporting the seven feelings of the Feel New brand – joy, connection, freedom, awe, rejuvenation, belonging and adventure.

Aquabumps founder Eugene Tan said his latest NSW series was the ultimate creative brief.

“Shooting for my fine art gallery – Aquabumps has taken me to a lot of incredible destinations over the years but none are as special to me as NSW. NSW is home and where I shoot most of the time, I’m never at a loss for new places and experiences to capture in our own backyard.

“This is a magical place of contrasts, offering unique and diverse nature, coastlines and cultural experiences to everyone who visits. It was an honour to have the opportunity to do something to showcase some of this diversity.

“I hope the series inspires travellers from near and far to get out there and explore everything our state has to offer,” said Tan.

The Feel NSW Aquabumps series includes the following NSW locations and will go live each week from today until 6 June.

  • NSW North Coast: Byron Bay, Brunswick Heads and Tintenbar
  • NSW Outback: Broken Hill
  • NSW Snowy Mountains
  • Hawkesbury River
  • NSW Mid North Coast: Seal Rocks, Sandbar Beach
  • Lord Howe Island
  • Sydney including Vivid Sydney

Vietnam eyes transition to green production for sustainable value

Economic sectors, localities and businesses should be considered the drivers of the nation’s green growth and sustainable development strategy, experts have said.

According to Phan Xuan Dung, President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, foreign-invested enterprises and multinational corporations can lead the trend of green transformation, thus helping Vietnam integrate with the global market.

Taking advantage of support from the FDI business community is extremely important for Vietnam in the context of limited domestic resources, and the digital and green transformation in Vietnamese small and medium-sized enterprises still remains slow, Dung said.

He added that the support from international partners and the pioneering of FDI enterprises in the trend of green transformation will contribute to helping Vietnamese businesses and localities speed up green transformation towards realising sustainable development goals.

Vietnam’s economy is set to develop quickly, sustainably and harmoniously between economy, culture, society, environmental protection and adaptation to climate change in the next 10 years.

Last year, the Prime Minister approved a national strategy on green growth for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, which aims to help promote economic restructuring in tandem with a growth model reform, and achieve economic prosperity, environmental sustainability, and social equality.

Vietnam strongly committed to net zero emissions by 2050 at the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26). In addition, the Government’s Socio-Economic Development and Recovery Programme promulgated on January 30, 2022 also demonstrates the determination to develop a “green and circular economy associated with sustainable development”.

Experts said to realise these goals, it is necessary to make three strategic breakthroughs in institutions, human resources and infrastructure, focusing on innovation and science and technology development.

With the above bases, Vietnam will effectively use resources, strengthen its management and coordination capabilities in finance and technology, and promote the participation of the community, businesses and international organisations in realising its sustainable development goals, said experts.

Science and technology will be an effective lever for a green transition in Vietnam and the world, they noted.

Accordingly, this is the time to converge necessary and urgent factors for Vietnam, as well as localities and businesses to make breakthroughs in thinking and strong actions to promote green transformation towards achieving sustainable values, they stressed.

According to Bruce Delteil from McKinsey & Company, decarbonisation is a priority for Vietnam, because climate change has been affecting the country’s socio-economic development.

Vietnam has a roadmap towards achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 through an interdisciplinary effort with the involvement of the whole society.

Sharing Delteil’s opinion, Alain Cany, Chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) in Vietnam, said that the nation needs to find ways to promote efficient and economical use of energy, and convert waste into energy./.

Soc Trang province launches 5G network, intelligent operations centre

A 5G network and an intelligent operations centre (IOC) were unveiled in the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang on April 24.

Ho Thi Cam Dao, Standing Vice Chairwoman of the provincial Party Committee, said despite many difficulties, Soc Trang has taken steps to build an e-administration.

It expects that by 2030, the province will have fundamentally and comprehensively reformed management and governance activities so that the local administration can operate more efficiently, effectively, and transparently, the local economy can develop on the basis of science – technology and high-quality human resources, and new values can be created to raise labour productivity and generate new growth momentum, she added.

Viettel completed the building of the 5G network in two months, making Soc Trang the 17th province in Vietnam and one of the first localities in the southern region to access 5G services, according to Sen. Lt. Col. Pham Tri Dung, Director of the Soc Trang branch of the Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group.

He said the official launch of 5G services is the first move to universalise the network here and also an important step for Viettel to accelerate the building of digital infrastructure in the province.

The same day, the province’s Soc Trang city opened its IOC, which was also developed with support from Viettel.

Nguyen Van Quan, Secretary of the municipal Party Committee and Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, said the IOC is one of the key facilities in socio-economic development of Soc Trang city. Tra Vinh develops linkages between organic coconut farmers, companies

Authorities in Tra Vinh province are trying to link up companies and farmers growing organic coconuts for mutual benefit.

The companies can ensure they get a steady supply of organic coconuts for processing and farmers are guaranteed outlets and incomes.

The Mekong Delta province is the country’s second largest coconut producer after its neighbour Ben Tre.

It has more than 23,600ha under coconut and an annual output of 250 million nuts, according to its Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The department is encouraging companies to link up with farmers to expand organic coconut growing areas and make products from the nuts.

Lam Huu Phuc, Deputy Director of the province’s Department of Planning and Investment, said Tra Vinh had implemented promotional activities to attract investment by coconut companies in Ben Tre to expand organic coconut farming and processing.

Some companies are already in the process of tying up with organic coconut farmers in Tra Vinh.

The Ben Tre Import and Export Joint Stock Corporation has, for instance, contracted farmers with 1,383ha of coconuts that meet international standards in Cang Long and Tieu Can districts.

It will build a plant for semi-processing of coconut products in Tra Vinh.

The Luong Quoi Coconut Co. Ltd is investing in a 150ha organic coconut farm in Tra Vinh city. It is also tying up with a local company to develop another 1,000ha and build a semi-processing plant in Cau Ke district.

Farmers get 10 – 20 percent higher for organic nuts.

Tra Vinh targets having 30,000ha under coconut by 2030, including 5,000ha of organic coconuts.

Tra Vinh is supporting farmers to control the spread of the coconut black-headed caterpillar which has damaged 26.3ha in Tieu Can and Cang Long districts.

The pest first appeared in the province in September last year after appearing for the first time in Vietnam in Ben Tre almost two years ago.

It has also spread to the delta’s other localities like Soc Trang, Tien Giang, and Kien Giang provinces and Can Tho city.

According to Le Truong Son, head of the Tra Vinh Plant Protection and Cultivation Sub-department, the pest is dangerous and could reduce yields by up to 80 percent and even kill coconut trees.

The sub-department is helping affected coconut growing localities spray pesticides to destroy the pest.

In the case of ageing and too tall coconut trees that farmers cannot spray, the sub-department wants them cut down and burnt.

The pest eats leaves and the husk of immature coconuts.

The sub-department has urged the people’s committees of districts and towns to speed up advocacy and training to identify the pest and promptly eliminate it./.

Hot weather predicted for northern, central regions in next few days

The northern and central regions began to experience a heat wave on April 24 which is forecast to reach its peak from April 25 – 27, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

On April 24, the heat wave began spreading across the north, mountainous areas of the northern central region, and coastal places.

Its peak is predicted for April 25 – 27, when temperatures will reach 35 – 37 degrees Celsius in lowland and western areas of the north, even over 37 degrees in some places of Hoa Binh province. In the north central region, they could be as high as 35 – 37 degrees, even 38 degrees or higher in mountainous areas.

The heat will gradually abate in the following days, the centre said.

It also warned about downpours, gale, lightning, and whirlwinds in late afternoon of the days.

This year, heat waves in the northern and central regions are likely to appear later than average and not too severe or long.

Temperatures in the north will approximate the previous years’ average during May – July but be 0.5 – 1 degree higher in August and September, the centre forecast.

Meanwhile, strong winds and rough seas with waves 1.5 – 3 metres high are projected for the Gulf of Tonkin in the afternoon of April 24 – 26 as a result of a western low pressure area’s impacts.

Facing this, the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control on April 24 sent a document to the coastal localities from Quang Ninh in the north to Quang Binh in the central region, requesting them take actions in response to the bad weather at sea./.
