Tourism promotion clip launched to welcome SEA Games 31

A tourism promotion video clip, themed “Let’s shine and live fully”, was officially launched on the YouTube channel of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) on April 30.

The clip, lasting 1 minute and 11 seconds, is part of the VNAT’s media programme “Vietnam: Di de Yeu!” (Vietnam: Travel to Love) that introduces a vibrant, attractive, and welcoming Vietnam to tourists from all over the world in response to the upcoming 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31).

It shows vivid images of the most popular destinations across Vietnam like Phu Quoc island in Kien Giang province, the central coastal city of Nha Trang in Khanh Hoa, the World Natural Heritage Site Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh, and the world’s largest cave Son Doong in Quang Binh.

The making of the clip gathered the participation of famous content creators such as Oxalis Adventure, Sao Media, Amazing Things in Vietnam, Indochina Sails, and Hai Au Aviation.

The VNAT is welcoming content creators to join its programme by sending their video clips to its official Youtube channel.

SEA Games 31, themed “For a Stronger South East Asia”, will be held in the capital city of Hanoi and 11 neighbouring provinces and cities from May 12 to 23.

Featuring 40 sports with 526 events, it is expected to attract around 10,000 participants. The biennial event was initially slated for late 2021 but delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Japanese PM begins official visit to Vietnam

Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio and his entourage arrived in Hanoi on April 30 afternoon, beginning his two-day official visit to Vietnam.

The trip, made at the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, is the first by Kishida Fumio to Vietnam since he took office in October last year. It is also a response to Chinh’s official visit to Japan in November 2021.

The visit aims to deepen Vietnam-Japan relations and promote the implementation of the outcomes of the Vietnamese PM’s 2021 trip to Japan.

It is expected to help strengthen the countries’ political trust and substantive cooperation in all fields as well as good relations between their senior leaders, meeting the interests and aspirations of the two nations’ people.

Currently, Kishida is President of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance./.

Lao Party extends congratulations to Vietnam on National Reunification Day

The Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) has cabled a message of congratulations to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) on the occasion of the 47th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30).

In the message, the LPRP Central Committee praised the leadership of the CPV in the past struggle for national liberation, as well as in national construction and development.

It also lauded achievements the Vietnamese people have recorded across spheres over the past time, especially its comprehensive outcomes in Doi Moi (Reform), bringing about political stability, continuous economic growth and better living standards.

The committee highlighted Vietnam’s enhanced national defence and security and expanded external relations, as well as the improved prestige and position of the Vietnamese Party and State in the region and the world.

“We firmly believe that under the clear-sighted, sound leadership of the CPV led by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Vietnam will reap new, greater achievements in the implementation of the Resolution adopted at the 13th National Party Congress, and soon become a modern industrialised nation, meeting the target of wealthy people and a strong, democratic, equal and civilised country,” the committee said.

Despite rapid, complex developments of the world situation and the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the Parties, States and people of the two countries have developed continuously, bringing pragmatic interests to their people, it continued.

Vietnam reports 5,109 new COVID-19 cases on April 30

A total 5,109 new COVID-19 infections were recorded in the past 24 hours to 4pm April 30, down 959 cases from the previous day, according to the Ministry of Health.

Hanoi continued to report the highest number of infections on the day with 837 cases, followed by Phu Tho with 379 and Yen Bai 250.

The national tally reached 10,649,809.

A total 16,727 COVID-19 patients were given the all clear on April 30, bringing the number of recoveries so far to 9,262,255.

There are 475 patients needing breathing support, while three deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours, taking the total fatalities to 43,041, equal to 0.4 percent of the total caseload.

By April 29, the country had injected 214,774,198 doses of COVID-19 vaccines, including 1,456,641 first shots for children from 5 to 11 years old.

HCM City celebrates National Renunciation Day with multiple activities

A special art programme was held in Ho Chi Minh City on April 29 night to mark the 47th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30).

On this occasion, agencies in the city have also organised various attractive activities, including art programmes in Thu Duc city, and Tan Phu, Binh Tan, Can Gio, Cu Chi, Binh Chanh, Nha Be and Hoc Mon districts.

The Dam Sen Cultural Park in District 11 and the Suoi Tien tourist site also host an array of entertainment activities, offering discounted tickets.

The city plans to welcome 3.5 million international tourists and 25 million domestic holiday-makers this year. After the government decided to open the doors to international guests from March 15, the city’s tourism sector has sped up preparations and created many new tourism products.

To attract more foreign visitors this year, the city is carrying out the “Welcome to Ho Chi Minh City” programme from March 15 to September 15, with gifts to participants.

National Reunification Day celebrated in Russia

An art exchange programme has been held in Moscow to mark the National Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day, with the participation of representatives from the Vietnamese community in Russia.

Poems and songs performed at the programme praised the land and people of Vietnam, and late President Ho Chi Minh.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi said over the past two years, Vietnamese people in Moscow and other southern cities like Voronez, Rostov and Krasnodar have actively coordinated with the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese Association to support those fleeing from Ukraine.

The programme is expected to give more strength to the Vietnamese community to overcome all challenges and difficulties.

Meanwhile, activities within the Vietnamese Day programme took place at the St. Petersburg State University and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations from April 25-29 to mark the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership.

The activities included seminars on Vietnam and bilateral relations, with the participation of many Russian experts, scholars and students, and representatives from the Russian Embassy in the Southeast Asian nation.

Ekaterina Koldunova from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations said the increasing number of participants demonstrates Vietnam’s special position among priorities in Russia’s foreign policy.

SEA Games 31: free tickets to men’s football matches in Nam Dinh

Matches of the men’s football at the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31) will be opened for free at the Thien Truong Stadium in the northern province of Nam Dinh.

The provincial People’s Committee requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate with departments and agencies to develop a plan to ensure security and safety and measures to prevent and control COVID-19.

Spectators will have their temperature checked when they arrive at the stadium, sanitize their hands, and wear masks during the match.

Thien Truong Stadium has a capacity of more than 20,000 people.

Recently, Nam Dinh province invested about 25 billion VND (1.08 million USD) in repairing and upgrading the stadium to serve the Games.

The stadium is the venue for matches of Group B, comprising Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia and Laos.

In the first group matches on May 7, Singapore will face Laos, and Thailand will meet Malaysia.

To ensure electricity for the matches, the Nam Dinh Power Company has set out plans and regularly checked power lines and stations. During the matches, it will suspend the maintenance work and send personnel to the stadium to deal with emergency incidents./

Bac Ninh’s lodging facilities ready to host SEA Games 31 delegations

Accommodation facilities in the northern province of Bac Ninh have basically completed all necessary conditions to welcome regional delegations to the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31) this May.

As the venue for four sports of the SEA Games 31 – boxing, kickboxing, indoor handball and tennis, Bac Ninh is expected to serve nearly 500 athletes and coaches as well as hundreds of referees, officials and guests.

Two local five-star hotels Grand Phoenix and Le Indochina in Bac Ninh city have been chosen to accommodate these delegations.

They have worked to make preparations in terms of human resources, logistics, safety conditions, and decorations serving the big event ahead.
