Hanoi: A nighttime tourism programme to discover the Ngoc Son temple on Hoan Kiem Lake, downtown Hanoi, debuted at a ceremony on January 31. At the launch ceremony, head of the municipal heritage management board Nguyen Doan Van hoped that with the programme, the special national relic site of Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son temple is no longer just "resources" but will become products of the cultural industry, capable of attracting a wide range of tourists both domestically and internationally. BANGKOK, The Constitutional Court has ruled that the Move Forward party's plan to amend Section 112 of the Criminal Code or the lese majeste law was tantamount to overthrow the democratic regime of the government with the King as the head of state. The court ruled the party's campaign promise to amend the royal insult law was unconstitutional and ordered the party to abandon the plan. The court ordered the Move Forward party and its former leader Pita Limjaroenrat to cease expressing opinions, speaking, writing, printing, advertising, and communicating through any means to advocate for the revocation of Section 112 of the Criminal Code. Additionally, no amendments to Section 112 of the Criminal Code shall be made through any means that is not in accordance with legislative processes, to prevent any such actions from occurring in the future. The petition was filed by a lawyer Theerayut Suwankesorn, asking the court to rule whether the MFP election campaign last year under the leadership of Pita Limjaroenra t violated the Section 49 which prohibits people from using their right and freedom to overthrow the monarchy and whether the party should be ordered by the court to stop trying to amend Section 112. More than half of the respondents selected tours that span from one to three nights, and over 40% opted others from four to seven nights. The report also revealed that the group of tourists aged 35-44 years old are most actively preparing for their Tet trips. Some 22.9% said they prefer food tourism, while only 13.7% selected maritime tourism for the holiday. The Tet holiday will last seven days from February 8 to 14, 2024, per an official document approved by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. The Lunar New Year festival or Tet is the largest Vietnamese traditional celebration and has been since ancient times. Last year, Vietnam receive d 12.6 million foreign arrivals, 3.5 times higher than 2022, exceeding the target set at the beginning of the year by 57%. The number of domestic tourists hit 108 million, 5.85 higher than the target.
