A man’s body was found under the skywalk ceiling. It is believed that he stole electrical wires. He died 4-5 months ago.

Body of an unidentified man found under the ceiling of a skywalk at Sathon Intersection, suspected of stealing electrical wires, presumed dead for at least 4-5 months.

Pol. Lt. Col. Chaisit Khamphaichan, Investigation Officer, Thung Maha Mek Police Station, was notified of a man’s body found under the ceiling of a skywalk over the Sathon-Narathiwat intersection, Thung Maha Mek Subdistrict, Sathon District, Bangkok. He therefore rushed to investigate along with Pol. Col. Phanom Chuathong, Superintendent of Thung Maha Mek Police Station, Investigation Division, Thung Maha Mek Police Station, forensic doctors from Chulalongkorn Hospital, police forensic officers, and volunteers from the Por Tek Tung Foundation.

The scene of the incident was inside the ceiling under the skywalk, approximately 5 meters above the ground. An unidentified male body was found, decomposed, with dry skin covering his bones. He was wearing a blood-red hard hat, which had been modified by attaching a flashlight to the hat. There was a
small amount of hair stuck to his skull. He was wearing a short-sleeved shirt, shorts stained with dried blood, and sneakers. Nearby, a cloth bag and a set of pliers and wrenches were found. In addition, a pair of pliers was found stuck in a cable, as if it was about to be cut. From the initial examination, no personal documents were found. It is estimated that he had been dead for at least 4-5 months. As for the initial wounds, they could not be identified.

The investigation revealed that the electrician was notified that the electrical system on the skywalk was malfunctioning, so he crawled into the ceiling to investigate before finding the body. The area where the body was found had already experienced an electrical malfunction, leading to the assumption that the deceased had come in to steal the electrical wires and was electrocuted to death.

Initially, the authorities sent the man’s body to the Chulalongkorn Hospital’s forensic department to verify his identity and determine the true cause of death.
