An Giang’s Housing Initiative to Improve Living Conditions for Thousands

An Giang: The Mekong Delta province of An Giang has unveiled plans to allocate over 301.3 billion VND (approximately 12 million USD) this year for housing construction and repairs. This initiative is part of a broader national effort to eliminate makeshift and substandard housing across the region. The province has identified 4,906 households currently living in inadequate conditions.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the project aims to provide 4,280 households with new homes, while repairs will be carried out on 626 homes. The initiative primarily targets revolution contributors, as well as poor and near-poor families, and others identified by the campaign. By early March, significant progress had been made, with 701 new homes constructed and 72 homes repaired. Already, 360 families have moved into their new or upgraded homes, including 306 families in newly built houses and 54 in repaired ones.

The province’s commitment to improving living conditions is seen as a crucial step in addressing housing inadequacies, directly impacting the quality of life for thousands of its residents.
