Bac Ninh Nets Over 9 Trillion VND from Lychees

Hanoi: The northern province of Bac Ninh bagged an estimated revenue of over 9 trillion VND (342 million USD) from lychee sales and related services in the 2026 lychee season. The result performed a surge of 44.2% as compared to the 2025 season, driven by record-high prices despite a lower overall crop yield. Fruit sales alone accounted for more than 7.26 trillion VND (276 million USD), up 95.2% while supporting activities and services generated over 1.74 trillion (66 million USD). According to Vietnam News Agency, the remarkable increase in revenue was primarily attributed to the favorable market conditions and strategic pricing that enabled the province to capitalize on the high demand for lychees. Despite a decrease in the total quantity of lychees harvested, the elevated prices more than compensated for the reduced yield, resulting in a significant boost in revenue from fruit sales. The supporting services and activities that complemented the lychee industry also witnessed substantial growth. These serv ices, which include packaging, transport, and distribution, contributed over 1.74 trillion VND (66 million USD) to the overall revenue. The increase in revenue from these services highlights the comprehensive economic impact of the lychee season on Bac Ninh's economy. The 2026 lychee season's success reflects the effectiveness of Bac Ninh's agricultural strategies and market adaptability. The province's ability to achieve high revenue despite challenges in crop yield demonstrates its resilience and the strength of its agricultural sector.
