China Places Great Importance on Relationship with Vietnam: Chinese FM

Beijing: China attaches great importance to its relationship with Vietnam and is ready to work with the country to maintain high-level exchanges, strengthen political trust, promote substantial cooperation, and solidify the foundation of public support in the bilateral relationship, said Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Wang, who is a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, made the remarks during his reception for Vietnamese Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu in Beijing on January 14, which saw both sides expressing their delight at the positive growth of the Vietnam-China relations in the past year.

According to Vietnam News Agency, Wang Yi emphasized the importance of sustaining the momentum that has been built in the bilateral relations over the past year. Both nations acknowledged the significance of maintaining regular high-level exchanges to deepen political trust and cooperation in various areas. This commitment is seen as a foundational step towards reinforcing mutual understanding and ensuring steady progress in their collaborative efforts.

The meeting between Wang Yi and Nguyen Minh Vu highlighted the mutual satisfaction with the trajectory of Vietnam-China relations, emphasizing the necessity to continue building on the past year’s achievements. Both parties recognized the critical role of public support in enhancing the bilateral ties and agreed to work towards solidifying this foundation. The discussions underscored the shared commitment to fostering a robust partnership that benefits both countries.
