Con Dao: Con Dao National Park, situated in the Con Dao island district off the coast of southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, stands as a rare conservation area that maintains the natural integrity of its ecological systems. The park’s lush forests and vibrant seascapes are key drivers in the growth of ecotourism within the region. It is among the limited number of national parks that encompass forest, wetland, and marine ecosystems, highlighting its ecological significance.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the marine life diversity in Con Dao is heavily reliant on the variety of its ecosystems. The multicolored coral reefs, with densities ranging from a few hundred to tens of thousands per 100 square meters, create a vivid underwater environment. To date, approximately 1,500 species have been documented, including over 300 species of marine vegetation, 350 species of coral, and 900 species of marine life. Among the recorded marine life, 7 species are critically endangered, 67 species are either endangered or
vulnerable, and more than 300 hard coral species are listed under CITES, underscoring the park’s conservation importance.
