Former engineer and shooting athlete arrested for selling bullets online

Metropolitan Police Bureau arrests ‘It Bangmaenang’, a former engineer and shooting athlete, for illegally selling bullets online nationwide.

Metropolitan Police, together with TOP G Task Force 5, arrested Mr. Thatchai, age 38, seized 13 items of evidence, consisting of various brands of ammunition, totaling 885 rounds, and charged him with ‘selling ammunition for trade without permission.’ The arrest took place at a private parcel delivery shop in Bang Yai branch, Nonthaburi province.

Before the arrest, the officers took him to the parcel delivery shop and waited for the suspect. Later, the suspect drove his personal car with a large cloth bag, which contained a large number of boxes containing various sized bullets, to deliver to customers who had ordered online. Later, the police officers showed themselves to ask and search him, and the suspect admitted that he had delivered various sized bullets to sell.

From questioning, Mr. Thatchai denied the charges, saying that he used to work as a civil engineer
for a large private company before resigning to work as a freelance engineer. Since he had a passion for shooting guns since he was 21 years old, he trained in the sport until he became an expert. He also knew people in the shooting industry and the industry selling bullets and BB gun equipment, so he turned to selling bullets of various sizes and BB gun equipment as an additional income. He did not think that he would eventually be arrested.

From checking the criminal record in the database of the Royal Thai Police, it was found that he was prosecuted for the offense of ‘being the principal in the charge of possessing ammunition that is not for use with the firearm that he is authorized to possess and distributing ammunition for trade without permission’ in 2022.

From the search of the suspect’s house, a .357 caliber gun with a license belonging to another person was found hidden inside the house. The officers therefore seized the gun and sent it to the investigation officer at the police station in the re
levant area in accordance with the law at the same time. Then, the suspect and evidence related to the case were taken to the Bang Yai Police Station for further legal proceedings.
