Former transport official arrested for corruption, embezzlement of vehicle tax and fee money

PACC, together with the Anti-Corruption Division and the Highway Police, arrested a former transport officer for embezzling annual vehicle tax and vehicle registration fees.

Mr. Phumiwisal Kasemsukh, Secretary-General of the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC), revealed that yesterday (September 11) at 6:30 p.m., officers from the Anti-Corruption Division of the PACC coordinated with police officers from the Anti-Corruption Division and police officers from the Highway Police Division 1, Sub-Division 1, Highway Police Division (Ayutthaya) to arrest Ms. A., a suspect under an arrest warrant from the Chiang Rai Provincial Court, No. Chor. 354/2566 dated November 15, 2566, for the offense of being an official with the duty to purchase, make, manage or maintain property, and embezzlement of such property for oneself by fraud, etc.

Due to the fact that during 2010-2013, while the accused was a transport officer, he was responsible for receiving payments for annual vehicle tax and vehicle registratio
n fees and issued receipts to those who came to pay. However, he later canceled the receipts in the computer system to make the Department of Land Transport believe that no annual vehicle tax and vehicle registration fees were collected from the payers and embezzled the money for himself, totaling 339 copies, causing damages to the Department of Land Transport totaling 432,632.50 baht. The NACC committee resolved to indict him and the public prosecutor decided to indict him, but the accused did not meet with the public prosecutor as scheduled, which led to the issuance of an arrest warrant.

The police arrested the accused on a bus at km. 32-33, Phahonyothin Road (outbound), Thanyaburi District, Pathum Thani Province, to take the accused to the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases for further legal proceedings.
