Hanoi: State President Luong Cuong attended a ceremony marking the 70th anniversary of Hai Phong city’s liberation day (May 13, 1955 – 2025) in the port city on May 13 evening. On this occasion, the city received the title of ‘Heroic City’ for their outstanding and comprehensive achievements, making a great contribution to the cause of building Socialism and defending the Fatherland. On the same evening, the Hoa Phuong Do festival 2025 also kicked off.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the event highlighted the historical significance of Hai Phong’s liberation and its development over the past decades. The recognition as a ‘Heroic City’ underscores the efforts and contributions of the residents in fostering growth and maintaining the city’s significant role in the nation’s socio-economic landscape. The festivities were further enlivened by the commencement of the Hoa Phuong Do festival, which celebrates the cultural vibrancy and community spirit of Hai Phong.
