Hanoi: The capital city of Vietnam, Hanoi, welcomed an estimated 1.34 million tourists during the nine-day Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday from February 14 to 22. This represents a 36.3% increase compared to the previous year, as reported by the municipal Department of Tourism.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the department highlighted that the city hosted 217,000 foreign tourists and 1.13 million domestic travellers during the Tet holiday. These figures reflect year-on-year increases of 55% for international visitors and 33.2% for domestic tourists. The total revenue generated from tourism during this period reached 4.87 trillion VND, which is over 187.5 million USD, marking a 40.2% increase from the previous year.
The significant rise in tourist numbers and revenue underscores the growing appeal of Hanoi as a destination during the Tet holiday season. The influx of both international and local visitors contributed to the city's economic and cultural vibrancy during this festive period.
