Hanoi Targets All-Green Energy Bus Fleet by 2030

Hanoi: The Hanoi People’s Committee has issued a directive outlining the city’s roadmap for transitioning its public bus fleet to electric and green energy vehicles. Accordingly, Hanoi aims to convert all public buses to electric or green energy by 2030. A detailed annual roadmap must be submitted to the municipal government by April 15, 2025.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the initiative is part of Hanoi’s broader efforts to promote sustainable urban development and reduce air pollution. The shift to electric and green energy buses is expected to significantly decrease the city’s carbon emissions and improve air quality. The directive mandates collaboration between various municipal departments to ensure the successful implementation of the transition plan.

The Hanoi People’s Committee has emphasized the importance of meeting the 2025 deadline for submitting the annual roadmap. This roadmap will detail the specific steps and measures required to achieve the 2030 target. The committee has also called for the involvement of private sectors and international partners to support the transition financially and technologically.

The move to electric and green energy buses aligns with national policies aimed at promoting sustainable transportation solutions across Vietnam. The directive serves as a critical step in Hanoi’s efforts to modernize its public transportation system while addressing environmental concerns.
