Hanoi: The capital city of Hanoi hosted a massive 4.17 million visitors in September, almost twice last year’s figure, according to the municipal Department of Tourism. They included some 666,700 foreign arrivals and 3.5 million domestic tourists, boosting revenue by more than 46% year-on-year to an estimated 12 trillion VND (461 million USD). In the first nine months of 2025, Hanoi welcomed 26.07 million visitors, marking a 23.8% increase compared to the previous year. Tourism revenue grew by over 20%, reaching 98.36 trillion VND. The number of domestic travellers doubled, surpassing the city’s major growth targets.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the growth in tourism numbers has been significant, reflecting a strong rebound in both domestic and international travel interest in Hanoi. The increased revenue is attributed to a combination of factors, including enhanced tourism infrastructure and successful marketing campaigns targeting both local and foreign tourists.
The municipal Department of Tourism has been actively promoting Hanoi as a key destination, focusing on its rich cultural heritage and vibrant urban experiences. Efforts to improve tourist facilities and services have also contributed to the city’s growing appeal.
The report highlights that the surge in domestic travelers has been instrumental in achieving the growth targets set by the municipal authorities. This trend suggests a strong confidence in the local tourism industry and its potential for future expansion.
Going forward, Hanoi aims to continue capitalizing on this upward trajectory, with plans to further develop its tourism offerings and attract even more visitors in the coming years.
