HCM City Strengthens Family-Based Child Trafficking Prevention

HCM City: The Centre for Women and Children Empowerment (CSWC) and Planete Enfants and Developpement (PE and D) on March 26 concluded the 2022-2024 project on building a child trafficking prevention support system in central and southern Vietnam. The initiative aligns with Vietnam’s National Action Programme on Human Trafficking Prevention (2021-2025) and has helped bridge gaps in child protection by enhancing the capacity of social workers and community support staff.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the project focused on strengthening family-based interventions and community involvement to prevent child trafficking. It provided training for local authorities and social workers, equipping them with the necessary skills to identify and respond to potential trafficking situations effectively. The initiative emphasized the importance of family and community support systems in safeguarding children from exploitation.

The project also facilitated workshops and seminars aimed at raising awareness about the risks and signs of child trafficking. By engaging with local communities and stakeholders, the initiative sought to create a more informed and vigilant network capable of combating trafficking activities. The collaborative effort between CSWC and PE and D has been pivotal in promoting sustainable and community-driven solutions to child trafficking in the region.
