Hue: Nearly 40 children from disadvantaged backgrounds across Vietnam received free cleft lip and palate surgeries at Hue Central Hospital from March 8-13 under a humanitarian programme jointly organised by the hospital's Odonto-Stomatology Centre and the Interplast volunteer surgical team from Germany.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the programme aimed to provide essential medical care to children who otherwise might not have access to such transformative procedures. The surgeries were conducted by a team of skilled volunteers from Interplast, a German organization known for its humanitarian efforts in offering surgical interventions in developing countries.
The joint initiative reflects a strong collaboration between local medical professionals and international volunteers, showcasing a commitment to improving the lives of children with cleft conditions. By addressing these medical needs, the programme not only enhances the physical health of the children but also boosts their confidence and social integration opportunities.
This initiative is part of a broader effort by Hue Central Hospital to provide medical assistance to underserved communities in Vietnam. The hospital continues to work with international partners to expand access to healthcare services and improve medical outcomes for those in need.
