Hue: The Hue Monuments Conservation Centre staged a reenactment of the Nguyen Dynasty's Thiet Trieu (Royal Audience) ceremony at the Imperial Citadel of Hue to celebrate the Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival. The event took place on February 11 and was one of the most significant court rituals under the Nguyen Dynasty, traditionally held on the first day of Tet. The reenactment attracted large crowds of both domestic and international visitors, aided by favourable weather conditions.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the revival of this royal audience ceremony is a part of ongoing efforts to preserve cultural heritage and bring historical customs back to life. The Nguyen Dynasty, which ruled from 1802 to 1945, was known for its elaborate royal ceremonies, and the Thiet Trieu ceremony was a central component of their New Year celebrations. The reenactment provides an opportunity for people to experience the historical and cultural significance of these imperial rituals.
