Bangkok, 'Jiraporn' orders the Consumer Protection Board to investigate the BYD campaign that reduced the price of electric cars by 140,000-160,000 baht after previous buyers were left smiling after receiving a 40,000 baht discount. After the electric car distributor BYD announced a promotion for the BYD DOLPHIN electric car model, the latest discount was 140,000-160,000 baht, later a consumer reflected the distress from the incident, stating that he was affected mentally because he bought a car from the brand during the 40,090 baht discount period. He admitted that he rushed to buy on April 30, 67, the last day of the campaign, because he was persuaded by the salesperson. If he did not rush to buy, the price might go back to selling at the full price. Not long after, the price did not go back up to the original price as claimed. But now there is a campaign with another 100,000 baht discount, along with special privileges such as various free gifts. The above incident has had a severe impact on mentally. O n July 1, 2024, it was reported that the distributor of the same car brand announced another price cut in the New BYD ATTO 3 electric car group, a total of 4 more models, citing the reason that it was to celebrate the opening of the first BYD car manufacturing plant in Thailand, with a total discount of up to 340,000 baht, which created dissatisfaction among consumers who had previously purchased the electric car model, to the point that they had gathered to file a complaint with the Consumer Protection Board. Recently, Ms. Jiraporn Sindhuphrai, Minister to the Prime Minister's Office and Chairwoman of the Consumer Protection Board, has ordered the Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB) to inspect the advertisements for discounted prices of the electric vehicles in order to comply with the consumer protection measures in advertising under the Consumer Protection Act. Therefore, officers have invited both parties to negotiate and mediate to find a way to solve the problem together. The public is advis ed to report the hotline 1166, the website www.ocpb.go.th, the OCPB Connect application, and the Damrongtham Center in every province. Source: Thai News Agency
