Lam dong: The UNESCO Dak Nong Global Geopark in the central province of Lam Dong has initiated preparations for its upcoming revalidation set for July 2027. The initiative aims to maintain its esteemed international designation while promoting its geological, cultural, and biodiversity heritage through sustainable tourism.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the geopark, spanning nearly 4,760 square kilometers across 22 communes and wards in western Lam Dong, was sculpted by millions of years of geological activity and successive volcanic eruptions. These natural phenomena have resulted in an extraordinary network of basalt lava tubes, recognized as one of the most significant volcanic cave systems in Southeast Asia. The intertwining of geological and cultural heritage has become the defining strength of the geopark and was a key focus during a UNESCO expert mission that conducted a field survey from June 8 to 11, as part of preparations for the 2027 revalidation.

The Lam Dong People's Committee has developed a detailed action plan to gear up for the forthcoming revalidation, emphasizing the importance of preserving the park's unique features and promoting sustainable tourism practices.
