Leaner Apparatus Must Mean Better Governance: Top Leader

Hanoi: Administrative reform isn't merely about slashing organisational units, but building a governance structure that is stronger, leaner, more accountable, more effective and better equipped to serve the public as the foundation for rapid, sustainable development in a new era, Party General Secretary and State President To Lam said while chairing a working session in Hanoi on June 2 with the Central Steering Committee responsible for reviewing one year of the political system's new organisational model and the three-tier administration model.

According to Vietnam News Agency, during the session, the focus was placed on evaluating the effectiveness of the new organisational and administrative models that were implemented a year ago. The aim has been to streamline operations without compromising the quality of governance. The reforms are designed to ensure that governance is not just efficient but also responsive to the needs of the people.

The Central Steering Committee has been tasked with overseeing these reforms and assessing their impact on the political and administrative landscape. The meeting highlighted the need for continuous evaluation and adjustment to align with the goals of sustainable development and improved public service.
