Mekong Delta Food Producers Busy with Production for Tet

Mekong Delta: Food producers in the Mekong Delta are ramping up production under their ‘One commune-One product’ (OCOP) programme to meet demand for the upcoming Tet (Lunar New Year) festival. In the lead-up to the festival, which falls on January 29, sales of high-quality and specialty products, especially OCOP items, normally increase significantly. The delta, which is the country’s largest producer of rice, fruits and seafood, has nearly 3,000 OCOP products rated between three and five stars. These OCOP products are mostly food, fruits, seafood, rice and related products.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the focus on increasing production is crucial as the Tet festival is a peak time for consumption. Producers are working to ensure sufficient supply of various items to cater to the festive demand. The OCOP programme emphasizes local specialties, which are expected to be in high demand during this period.

The Mekong Delta’s role as a major agricultural hub is highlighted by its extensive range of products. Producers are keen to leverage this position by promoting their OCOP products, which have gained recognition for their quality. Efforts are being made to enhance production capabilities and ensure that the products meet consumer expectations during the festival.

The Tet festival is a significant cultural event in Vietnam, leading to increased consumption patterns. The focus on the OCOP programme aims to support local economies by boosting the sale of locally produced items. With the festival approaching, food producers are diligently preparing to meet the anticipated surge in demand.
