The Subcommittee on Driving the Sports Industry, together with the Boxing Commission, the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), and the Department of Skill Development, Ministry of Labor, organized the activity project "Amazing Muay Thai Master Class Global Tour 2024" in Paris, France, from October 3-6, 2024, which is the fifth country to go on a "Muay Thai" roadshow tour, following England, Australia, Canada, and the United States. On October 3, local time, Gen. Orachai Boonsukjitseri, Sub-Committee on Sports Industry Promotion, along with Mr. Preecha Lalun, Deputy Governor for Professional Sports and Boxing Sports, Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), Mr. Teerawat Silpa-archa, Director of Boxing Sports Development Division, SAT, and Mrs. Napaporn Pue-on, Director of Social Budgeting Division 4, Budget Bureau, and the group visited Muay Thai gyms that passed the inspection standards of Muay Thai gyms in Paris, 2 out of 6 gyms, namely Muay Thai Academy 95 Gym and Colombes Muay Thai Gym, before presenting them with the Standard Muaythai Gym or SMG as a certificate of passing the Muay Thai gym standards. Gen. Orachai Boonsukjitseri, Sub-Committee for the Promotion of the Sports Industry, revealed that this time, we organized the event in Paris, France, where we inspected boxing camps and certified the standards of Muay Thai camps. He noted that the Muay Thai camps in France were different from many other countries that we had visited before because most of the Muay Thai camps that we inspected in France were in government sports centers, which were supported. Therefore, those who applied to study Muay Thai would have to pay a low fee of around 150-200 euros, while some camps would not exceed 200 euros, which was different from other camps that we inspected, which were private camps with more expensive fees. 'The Muay Thai camps in France are completely managed by the government, with some compensation. The place is a government sports center, so there are a lot of members who study Muay Thai here. The trend is ver y good. Each gym has about 200-300 people, both children and adults. By the standards of Muay Thai gyms in France, they have been learning how to train Muay Thai for a long time because they have inherited it from old boxing teachers. Therefore, the teaching of their foreign boxing teachers is very skilled.' Gen. Orachai added that in the future, the SAT plans to arrange for Muay Thai teachers to come and teach in France and certify them with licenses, as well as teach them additional Muay Thai techniques, to make them as capable as Thai Muay Thai teachers in order to teach their members even better. In addition, the SAT also plans that after this, maybe next year in the 2025 fiscal year, there may be Muay Thai competitions by inviting various Muay Thai gyms that we inspected, which are considered our members, to send boxers to compete with us. We will also bring some famous Muay Thai boxers from Thailand to fight, maybe arranging for Muay Thai boxers to fight with French boxers or let them fight each other to create more popularity, which is already very popular in France, but we will make it even more popular. At least some people may be interested in traveling to study Muay Thai in Thailand, which will generate income for Thailand in another way. Source: Thai News Agency
