Much Work Still Ahead to Ensure Smooth, Effective Two-Tier Local Government Model: PM

Hanoi: Although the new two-tier local government model has run stably since its launch on July 1, there is much to do to ensure its smooth, synchronous, and effective operations, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has stressed. The PM chaired a meeting of the Government Party Committee’s Standing Board and the Government on August 23 to review two months of implementing the model.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the meeting aimed to assess the current state of the model and identify areas that require further attention to optimize its functionality. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of evaluating initial outcomes and recognizing the challenges that lie ahead to ensure that the new system operates efficiently.

The two-tier model, which was implemented to streamline local governance, has shown signs of stability, but officials acknowledge that continuous improvements are necessary. The government is focused on addressing any operational issues and ensuring that the model aligns with the broader goals of enhancing governance at the local level.
