Central Localities Ban Vessels from Going to Sea as Storm Kajiki Approaches

Hanoi: Central coastal localities have ordered a ban on vessels going out to sea starting August 24 as Storm Kajiki, the fifth storm to form in the East Sea this year, moves closer to Vietnam’s mainland. The storm, which strengthened from a tropical depression on August 23, is forecast to bring strong winds, heavy rains and rough seas from Thanh Hoa to Hue, posing high risks of flooding, landslides and damage to coastal and offshore activities.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the decision to ban vessels is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of fishermen and maritime activities as the storm approaches. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged local residents to stay informed about the storm’s progress and adhere to safety guidelines issued by relevant agencies.

The storm’s impact is expected to be significant, with weather forecasts indicating the possibility of severe weather conditions across several regions. Local governments are preparing emergency response measures and coordinating with various organizations to provide assistance to affected areas, should the need arise.

As the storm approaches, residents in the central coastal areas are advised to secure their properties and stay away from low-lying and vulnerable areas. The government is also coordinating with rescue teams to ensure swift actions in case of emergencies, emphasizing the importance of timely evacuations and preparations to minimize potential damage and casualties.
