NA Standing Committee Asks for Clear Mechanisms for Upstream Oil, Gas Management

Hanoi: The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee, during its fifth session on August 17, called for coordination and stronger oversight to ensure the smooth operation of the upstream oil and gas management model following major changes in decentralisation and delegation of powers. During their afternoon sitting, committee members discussed the revision of the draft amended Law on Oil and Gas.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the committee emphasized the need for clear mechanisms and guidelines to effectively manage the upstream sector, which has seen significant shifts in authority. The members stressed that these changes require comprehensive strategies to maintain efficiency and accountability within the industry.

The discussions focused on ensuring that the revised law addresses the complexities introduced by the recent decentralisation. The committee members highlighted the importance of collaboration among various stakeholders to implement a coherent framework that supports the sector's development while safeguarding national interests.
