NA Standing Committee Convenes 54th Session in Hanoi

Hanoi: The 54th session of the National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee opened in Hanoi on February 3 under the chair by NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the session was held over half a day and focused on several key issues. The committee aimed to approve a resolution concerning additional special mechanisms and policies for the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Project. This project is a significant aspect of the country's energy strategy and the approval sought to address specific operational and policy challenges.

Additionally, the session involved reviewing the NA's report on citizens' petitions submitted in January. This report is crucial as it reflects public concerns and the responsiveness of the legislative body to these issues.

The committee also received a preliminary report on the draft amendments to the Capital Law. These amendments are expected to introduce changes that will impact governance and administrative procedures in the capital, reflecting evolving needs and circumstances.

Furthermore, the session included the approval of the second adjustment to the structure, composition, and number of people from central and local agencies and units nominated for the 16th NA. This adjustment is part of ongoing efforts to ensure that the assembly is representative and equipped to address the nation's legislative needs effectively.
