National Election Council Begins Preparations for Upcoming Elections

Hanoi: The National Election Council (NEC) held its first meeting on July 9 under the chairmanship of National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man, who also serves as President of the council. Chairman Man said the NEC, established at the recent 9th session of the 15th parliament, held the first meeting to officially give opinions on the preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th NA and all-level People’s Councils for the 2026-2031 tenure, slated for March 15 next year. He noted that the election is a political event of national importance reflecting the people’s right to mastery and selecting outstanding deputies who represent the people’s will and aspirations in the new tenure.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the NEC meeting focused on laying the groundwork for the upcoming electoral process. The discussions included setting up committees to oversee various aspects of the election, such as logistics, voter registration, and communication strategies. The council aims to ensure a transparent and efficient electoral process that upholds the democratic values of the nation.

The NEC emphasized the significance of the election in strengthening the political framework of the country. The council’s efforts are directed towards ensuring that the elections are conducted smoothly, with a focus on fairness and inclusivity. The meeting also outlined a timeline for key activities leading up to the election day, highlighting the importance of early preparation and coordination among different governmental bodies.

Chairman Man reiterated the council’s commitment to facilitating an environment conducive to fair elections. He called upon all relevant stakeholders to collaborate effectively to achieve the objectives set by the NEC. The council plans to hold regular meetings to review progress and address any challenges that may arise in the lead-up to the elections.
