Nghe an: Dan Lai, one of the least populous ethnic groups in Vietnam, are living mainly in Mon Son commune of the central province of Nghe An. Staying in one of the most harsh land amidst the Pu Mat forests, Dan Lai people used to face decline due to poverty and difficult living conditions. Thanks to the Government’s supports through the socio-economic development programmes in mountainous and ethnic minority areas, 240 families of Dan Lai people in Mon Son commune in recent years have escaped from poverty, confidently building a stable life.
According to Vietnam News Agency, these government initiatives have provided essential resources and opportunities for the Dan Lai community, enabling them to improve their living conditions. The support has included infrastructure development, education, and healthcare services, which have played a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for the community members.
The socio-economic programmes have also focused on sustainable development, encouraging the Dan Lai
people to engage in various livelihood activities that are harmonious with their environment. This approach has not only helped in poverty alleviation but also ensured that the cultural identity of the Dan Lai people is preserved amidst the changing times.
