Hanoi: The first session of the 16th National Assembly was officially convened on the morning of April 6 in Hanoi. A central focus will be decisions on the organisational structure and the election and approval of high-ranking personnel within the state apparatus.

According to Vietnam News Agency, on the first day of sitting, NA deputies will discuss and approve the nominating lists for NA chairperson, vice chairpersons, and NA Standing Committee members. The chair will be elected by secret ballot. The newly elected chair then takes the oath and delivers an inaugural speech.
