Party Chief Advocates for Stronger, Dual-Use Defence Industry

Hanoi: Party General Secretary To Lam emphasized the need for the Ministry of National Defence’s General Department of Defence Industry to intensify efforts in building a robust, dual-use defence industry. He called for enhanced research and development of modern weapons, equipment, and military technologies with strategic significance. This directive was part of a broader vision that includes integrating the department’s activities with the national industrial development strategy and boosting international cooperation. General Secretary Lam made these remarks during a ceremony held on September 15 in Hanoi, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the general department’s traditional day.

According to Vietnam News Agency, during the ceremony, General Secretary Lam awarded the General Department of Defence Industry the prestigious title of ‘Hero of the People’s Armed Forces.’ This accolade was in recognition of the department’s remarkable achievements in developing, producing, and modernizing high-tech defence equipment. The department’s contributions have been pivotal in safeguarding the nation and supporting the advancement of socialist construction.
