Hanoi: Vietnam’s pepper sector has maintained its leading global position despite sharp price swings over the past year, driven by supply shortages and higher logistics costs. Vietnam exported about 188,000 tonnes of pepper worth 1.27 billion USD in the first nine months of 2025, down 6.3% in volume but up 28.7% in value year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The average export price reached 6,774 USD per tonne, up 37% from 2024.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the increased value of pepper exports demonstrates the industry’s resilience in navigating global supply challenges and fluctuating costs. The higher average export price highlights the continued demand for Vietnam’s pepper, even as the sector grapples with reduced export volumes. The report underscores Vietnam’s crucial role in the global pepper market, maintaining its position despite ongoing economic pressures worldwide.
