Hanoi: Prime Minister Le Minh Hung chaired a meeting on May 4 to review progress, address bottlenecks, and accelerate the implementation of Phase 1 of Long Thanh International Airport, with the goal of putting the project into commercial operation in 2026. The project, covering around 5,000 hectares, has a total investment of approximately 109.1 trillion VND (4.14 billion USD) in its first phase. It is regarded as a key national infrastructure project drawing close attention from Party and State leaders.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the meeting focused on identifying and overcoming obstacles that have hindered progress in the initial stages of development. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of collaboration among various stakeholders to ensure the timely completion of the project. This infrastructure development is expected to significantly enhance the region's connectivity and economic growth.
The Long Thanh International Airport project, once completed, will serve as a major hub for international flights and is anticipated to alleviate congestion at the existing Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City. The project is a strategic priority for the government, aiming to boost the country's aviation capacity while contributing to its overall economic development.
