Prime Minister Calls for Greater Self-Reliance in Developing Defence Industry

Hanoi: Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on March 12 chaired a working session with the Ministry of National Defence on the development of the defence industry during which he highlighted the importance of strengthening internal capacity, self-reliance, self-strengthening and strategic autonomy in this work.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for the country to bolster its internal capabilities to ensure a more self-reliant defence sector. He noted that achieving strategic autonomy in defence would not only enhance national security but also reduce dependency on external entities for military resources and technology.

The session underscored the critical role of the Ministry of National Defence in spearheading efforts to develop a robust domestic defence industry. The Prime Minister called for innovative approaches and strategic investments to build a sustainable and self-sufficient defence infrastructure.
