Hanoi: Prime Minister Le Minh Hung on July 28 commended the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as a strategic policy advisory partner and a trusted companion in Vietnam's socio-economic development process, while receiving Jochen Schmittmann, outgoing IMF Regional Resident Representative for Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam, and Fazurin Jamaludin, who will assume the position of IMF Regional Resident Representative for Vietnam and Laos on August 23.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the meeting highlighted the significance of the IMF's support in shaping Vietnam's economic strategies and policies. Prime Minister Le Minh Hung expressed his appreciation for the IMF's contributions, particularly in the areas of fiscal management, monetary policy, and structural reforms, which have been instrumental in Vietnam's economic growth and stability.

Jochen Schmittmann, who is concluding his tenure, was acknowledged for his efforts and collaboration with Vietnamese authorities in navigating economic challenges and facilitating sustainable development. Fazurin Jamaludin's upcoming appointment was also welcomed, with expectations for continued and enhanced cooperation between Vietnam and the IMF.
