Procession of Shakyamuni Buddha Relics to Tam Chuc Pagoda

Hanoi: Shakyamuni Buddha relics, recognised as a National Treasure of India, have been enshrined at Tam Chuc Pagoda in the northern province of H  Nam from May 17. A ceremonial procession was held by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha to transfer the Buddha’s relics from Quan Su Pagoda in Hanoi to Tam Chuc Pagoda. The relics are available for public viewing and veneration until May 21 before they are returned to India.

According to Vietnam News Agency, Vietnam welcomed Shakyamuni Buddha’s sacred relics on May 2 as part of the United Nations Day of Vesak Celebrations 2025. The event highlights the spiritual and cultural connection between Vietnam and India, reflecting the significance of the relics in fostering religious and cultural ties. The presence of these relics in Vietnam allows devotees and the public to engage in meaningful religious observance during their brief stay at Tam Chuc Pagoda.
