Quang Tri Preserves Thousand-Year-Old Water Well System

Quang tri: The Gio An ancient well system in Con Tien commune, Quang Tri province, dating back thousands of years, is considered a unique masterpiece of irrigation architecture created by Cham ethnic group. Comprising 14 wells which still deliver crystal-clear water steadily through the centuries, the system ranks among the region's most distinctive architectural works with imprints of the Cham culture. It is a source of pride for local residents and a must-see destination for visitors.

According to Vietnam News Agency, in 2001, the Gio An ancient well system was recognized as a national historical and cultural relic. Currently, Quang Tri province is actively pushing forward the preservation and promotion of the system's values in combination with the sustainable development of community-based tourism.
