Quang tri: The Cam Lo-Dong Ha forest protection unit in the central province of Quang Tri has received a rare stump-tailed macaque, a species listed as endangered, precious, and rare in the Vietnam Red Data Book. The macaque, weighing about 3kg, was discovered after straying into the DK4 reserve warehouse in area KV9, under the management of the agricultural reserve sub-department No. 9. Upon detection, warehouse staff promptly informed local authorities.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the macaque's discovery highlights the ongoing challenges in wildlife conservation faced by the region. The authorities are working towards ensuring the safety and preservation of the species, which is critical for maintaining biodiversity in the area. The forest protection unit is taking necessary measures to care for the macaque and assess its health before deciding on the next steps for its rehabilitation and possible release back into the wild.
