Lam dong: Authorities in Ham Kiem commune, the central province of Lam Dong, have received a rare pangolin that was voluntarily handed over by a local resident. Initial examination revealed that the 10kg pangolin appears to be in good health, showing no visible signs of injury and retaining normal mobility. Pangolins are classified as endangered, precious, and rare forest species, prioritised for protection under Vietnamese law.

According to Vietnam News Agency, pangolins are among the most trafficked mammals globally, often sought for their scales and meat. Efforts to protect them have intensified in recent years, aligning with Vietnam's commitment to conserving its unique biodiversity. The voluntary handover of the pangolin by a resident highlights growing awareness and participation in wildlife conservation efforts within the community.
