Moscow: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has underscored the comprehensive and consistent leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), especially in protecting the people's interests. During a January 20 press conference reviewing the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' diplomatic activities in 2025, Lavrov, responding to a question from a Vietnam News Agency (VNA) correspondent about the ongoing 14th National Congress of the CPV, emphasised that the CPV is the force that decisively determines all of Vietnam's development orientations.

According to Vietnam News Agency, Lavrov's remarks highlighted the pivotal role of the CPV in shaping Vietnam's economic and political framework. He pointed out that the party's strategies and policies have been instrumental in steering the nation towards its current trajectory. Lavrov also reiterated Russia's commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Vietnam, acknowledging the CPV's influence in fostering international relations.

During the press conference, Lavrov expressed confidence in the CPV's ability to guide Vietnam through future challenges, citing the party's historical track record of leadership and stability. He further noted that the CPV's governance model could serve as an example for political parties in other nations seeking to balance national interests with global integration.

Lavrov's comments come amidst the backdrop of the 14th National Congress of the CPV, an event that is closely watched by international observers for its potential impact on Vietnam's domestic and foreign policies. The congress is expected to outline the party's vision and priorities for the coming years, reinforcing its role as the central authority in Vietnam's political landscape.
