Hanoi: Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on August 26 called on Samsung Group from the Republic of Korea (RoK) to continue to expand investment in Vietnam, especially in the fields of high technology and research and development (R and D). Speaking at a meeting with acting head of Samsung Electronics’ Device Experience Division Roh Tae Moon in Hanoi, PM Chinh said that on the principle of ‘mutual benefit, harmonised risks and shared gains,’ it is hoped that Samsung will remain a trusted partner of Vietnam in economic and technological development.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the Prime Minister’s call for increased investment reflects Vietnam’s strategic focus on enhancing its technological capabilities and solidifying its position as a hub for high-tech industries. The Vietnamese government sees Samsung’s involvement as pivotal in achieving its long-term economic goals and fostering an environment conducive to technological innovation.
The meeting underscored the importance of Samsung’s contributions to Vietnam’s economy, with discussions centered on potential areas for further collaboration. PM Chinh highlighted opportunities in technology and R and D, emphasizing the mutual benefits of a strengthened partnership between Vietnam and Samsung. The Vietnamese government remains committed to supporting Samsung’s operations and facilitating its expansion plans within the country.
