Signing Ceremony of Hanoi Convention Solemnly Opens in Hanoi

Hanoi: The Signing Ceremony and the High-Level Conference of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, known as the Hanoi Convention, were solemnly held at 9:00 on October 25 at the National Convention Centre. This event, themed “Countering Cybercrime – Sharing Responsibility – Securing our Future,” was chaired by Vietnamese State President Luong Cuong. The ceremony saw the participation of United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and leaders and high-level representatives from about 110 countries, along with various international organisations, including UN agencies, regional organisations, and financial institutions.

According to Vietnam News Agency, many experts and scholars in cybersecurity and international law were also present. Vietnamese State President Luong Cuong and United Nations Secretary-General Ant³nio Guterres delivered remarks at the opening session, underscoring the importance of international cooperation in combating cybercrime. The ceremony marked a significant milestone in global efforts to address cybersecurity threats and foster a collective responsibility towards a secure future.
