Special Flight Transports Over 7,000 Martyrs’ Remains for DNA Testing

Hanoi: A special military flight on August 21 carried 7,104 biological samples from the remains of fallen soldiers from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi for DNA testing, following a tribute ceremony held at the military terminal of Tan Son Nhat International Airport. The ceremony was jointly organised by the Steering Committee for the search, collection and identification of martyrs' remains of Ho Chi Minh City, and the Air Defence - Air Force Service.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the initiative aims to facilitate the identification of the remains of war martyrs, offering closure to the families of those who sacrificed their lives. The samples will undergo DNA testing in Hanoi, a step towards ensuring proper identification and honoring the lost soldiers. This effort reflects ongoing commitments to address the aftermath of past conflicts and provide recognition to those who served.
