Hanoi: The upcoming state visit to New Zealand by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and State President To Lam is expected to give fresh momentum to the Vietnam-New Zealand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and bolster more substantive cooperation across areas, Vietnamese Ambassador to New Zealand Phan Minh Giang has said. The trip, to be made at the invitation of Governor-General of New Zealand Cindy Kiro, carries a historic significance as it is the first state visit to New Zealand by a Vietnamese Party General Secretary and State President, demonstrating Vietnam's high regard for and priority to New Zealand as an important and effective comprehensive strategic partner in the region, while reaffirming Vietnam's attention to the South Pacific region.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the visit is anticipated to strengthen bilateral ties and open new avenues for collaboration between the two nations. Ambassador Giang highlighted the long-standing relationship between Vietnam and New Zealand, emphasizing the importance of this visit in enhancing mutual understanding and cooperation. The diplomat pointed out that the visit would cover discussions on a range of topics aimed at deepening collaboration in political, economic, and cultural spheres, further cementing the comprehensive strategic partnership.
