Istanbul: National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man has suggested the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) support Vietnam's legislature in enhancing its lawmaking and supervision capacity, while enabling deeper engagement in IPU mechanisms and future hosting of regional and global parliamentary events. Chairman Man made the suggestion in his meeting with IPU Secretary-General Martin Chungong on April 17 morning (local time) on the sidelines of the 152nd IPU Assembly (IPU-152) in Istanbul, Trkiye.
According to Vietnam News Agency, Chairman Man emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between the IPU and Vietnam's National Assembly. This collaboration aims to improve legislative functions and ensure effective supervision practices within Vietnam's parliamentary framework. By doing so, Vietnam seeks to elevate its participation in IPU activities and contribute more significantly to international parliamentary discourse.
Furthermore, Chairman Man proposed that Vietnam could serve as a host for future regional and global parliamentary events, showcasing its commitment to international parliamentary cooperation. The meeting highlighted Vietnam's proactive approach in seeking IPU's support to facilitate these initiatives and advance its legislative capabilities on the global stage.
