Hanoi: The Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment on August 26 requested the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment to take dyke protection measures to ensure safety in response to flooding. The same day, the Chairman of Thanh Hoa provincial People’s Committee issued an urgent directive on addressing the aftermath caused by Typhoon Kajiki and responding to post-storm flooding, aiming to stabilise local conditions and residents’ lives. Localities were instructed to ensure the safe operation of irrigation and hydropower reservoirs and dyke systems, proactively prepare response plans to protect residents in case of emergencies, and keep rescue forces, equipment, and resources ready for timely deployment in critical situations.

According to Vietnam News Agency, these measures come as a part of a broader effort to mitigate the impact of Typhoon Kajiki, which has caused significant disruptions and posed a threat to infrastructure and livelihoods. The directives emphasize the importance of maintaining the operational integrity of essential systems and ensuring that local communities are adequately prepared to handle potential emergencies. The focus is on safeguarding both human lives and property, with a concerted effort to mobilize resources swiftly when needed.
