Typhoon Koto Leaves One Dead and Three Missing in Central Vietnam

Hanoi: Typhoon Koto, the 15th storm to enter the East Sea this year, has resulted in one fatality and left three individuals missing across the central provinces, as reported by the Vietnam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority (VDDMA) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment. The storm has wreaked havoc in the region, leading to significant loss and damage.

According to Vietnam News Agency, preliminary statistics from the VDDMA indicate that as of 8:30 am on November 29, the floods have caused the collapse of 963 houses and inflicted damage on an additional 3,390 homes. The floods have also resulted in the death or disappearance of 944,975 livestock and poultry, with Dak Lak province experiencing the most severe losses, accounting for 663,500 of those animals.

On November 29, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited Dak Lak to assess the flood recovery efforts. During his visit, he conducted both in-person and online meetings with representatives from the provinces of Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa, and Lam Dong in order to coordinate effective responses to the aftermath of the flooding.
