Beirut:Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Gen. Phan Van Giang met with UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix at the UN headquarters on September 23.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the meeting focused on Vietnam's expanded involvement in peacekeeping efforts. Lacroix expressed the UN's support for Vietnam's more active engagement in these operations.
