Vietnam-Cambodia Defence Cooperation Shows Positive Results

Hanoi: Defence cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia has recorded numerous positive results in recent years, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Gen. Phan Van Giang affirmed during a reception for Secretary of State at Cambodia's Ministry of National Defence Gen. Prak Sovanna in Hanoi on June 9. The meeting took place as Gen. Sovanna is accompanying Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on his official visit to Vietnam and attendance at the third ASEAN Future Forum (AFF).

According to Vietnam News Agency, the discussions between the two leaders highlighted the ongoing commitment to strengthening defence ties, which play a crucial role in maintaining regional security and stability. Both sides acknowledged the importance of continued collaboration on defence matters, which have already seen significant advancements in recent years. The leaders emphasized the mutual benefits that have emerged from the cooperation and expressed optimism for future developments in joint defence initiatives.

The visit by Gen. Prak Sovanna and Prime Minister Hun Manet underscores the strategic importance both nations place on their defence relationship.
